Long synopsis : Bruno grew up on the outskirts of the city, between industrial wasteland and scrub vegetation. In a family corrupted by alcoholism, he has always been the outsider. Bruno longs to free himself from the degenerate background he hates, to lose himself in a world of beauty. At the age of five, Elise witnessed her mother’s bloody, still-unsolved murder. She struggles to live with the memory but is trapped by her family: by her hopelessly weak father and an hysterical stepmother who believes that the girl is fated to suffer terrible violence. Elise is 18 Elise is lovely Elise is suffocating A chance meeting brings them together. Elise embodies the beauty Bruno has previously found only in objects. He is smitten. But the combination of this obsessive dreamer, the beautiful Elise and her neurotic, paranoid stepmother proves lethal. Beneath his attractive façade, Bruno is damaged beyond repair, a prisoner of deeply disturbed visions, possessed by a compulsion that will lead irrevocably to appalling acts of transgression.
