Long synopsis : Actress Marcelline - 40, single and childless - is rehearsing a new play. When the director introduces her to his assistant, Nathalie, it transpires the two women were at drama school together 20 years earlier. It's the first in a series of shocks that will turn Marcelline's life upside down. Her gynecologist informs her that if she wants a child, it's now or never. Her character begins to invade her. Her relationship with the director disintegrates. She cannot function. Ghosts from her past appear, offering help. Ghosts and women. Her mother -young at heart and pained by her daughter's loneliness; an old boyfriend's mother; a young actress who idolizes her; the Virgin Mary herself.... Different women, all longing to live out the passions they have not yet experienced. All unwilling to abandon their dreams.
