Long synopsis : Arthur Parkinson's high school band practice is interrupted by the terrible noise of gunfire, announcing the tragedy that will devastate his small Northeastern hometown. Annie Marchand, Arthur's one-time babysitter and the object of his childhood adoration, is a beautiful and impetuous young woman whose life hasn't turned out right. While Arthur is entering into his first true romance with Lila, the eccentric new girl in school, Annie struggles to raise her four-year-old daughter alone. Her estranged husband, Glen, recovering from a botched suicide attempt, seeks answers in a born-again church while trying whatever it takes to get back into Annie's life. His attempts are met first with suspicion, and finally with hostility. Alone, all hope gone, he plans his final, desperate act.
